Write how you speak

“Hi everyone”, not “Greetings contemporaries”

Use short, direct sentences

keep it simple and digestible. two short sentences not one long sentence.

Avoid unnecessary jargon

it comes off as inauthentic. (note: Getting technical and using jargon are two different things)

Show, don’t tell

Put readers in the situation itself instead of just describing it (e.g. “contractors lose days of work waiting for your managed device to arrive” vs. “contractors experience uncomfortable productivity setbacks”)

Aim to inspire

it’s bigger than security, it’s the ideal way to work. Keep that the main thing.

Don’t attack existing solutions

(we might have sold it to them) or consumer browsers (they rock and it’s not their fault)

Speak directly to our buyer

write in 2nd person, unless if it’s a corporate summary or formal publication
